Walmart+'s Xbox Game Pass offer will let you play all the 'Fallout' games for free

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 18:17

Great news, everyone: The TV adaptation of Fallout is finally here, and it rocks. It's so good, actually, that it has us yearning to play the games that inspired it once again (or, maybe in your case, for the first time), and we're assuming that you may have the same feeling. The thing is, there are quite a few Fallout games, and buying every single one might not be the most cost-effective way to start playing. Lucky for you, every single one of them is included in Xbox Game Pass' library, and even luckier, Walmart is offering a can't-miss deal that'll get you two free months of the gaming subscription service.

SEE ALSO: The best 'Fallout' games to play after watching Prime Video's TV series

As of the time of this writing, signing up for Walmart+ will allow you to redeem those two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, along with a bunch of other great perks like unlimited free delivery, fast shipping, trials to Apple Music and YouTube Premium, and lots more. Better yet, you can take up the offer while you're on the free 30-day trial of Walmart+, which is basically a Game Pass cheat code. After the trial, you'll pay $98 annually, or $12.95 monthly, for Walmart+ unless you cancel. After your Game Pass trial ends, you'll have to pay $16.99 per month (it's worth it, though).

You get a robot butler in 'Fallout 4,' in case you needed another reason to play. Credit: Bethesda Game Studios

Once you're signed up for Walmart+ and Game Pass, you'll be able to play any Fallout game that you want, including Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 76. Beyond that, you'll also have unlimited access to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library, which allows you to download and play any of its games at your leisure. That includes new Xbox-exclusive games on release day, which almost sounds too good to be true, but it's not. You'll also have the ability to play games online with friends, and get bonus deals and discounts in the Xbox storefront. To us, it's still one of the best deals in gaming to this day.

If watching Fallout has put you in the mood to play the games like us, sign up for Walmart+ ASAP and pick them up in the Xbox Game Pass library. See you out in the Wasteland, Vault Dweller.

Looking for a solid pair of noise-cancelling earbuds to accompany you on your upcoming trips? Check out the Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds, which are on sale at Amazon for just $229.95 as of April 15. That's 23% off their usual retail price and the lowest price on record. They previously dropped to $249.99 following October's Prime Day 2023, but this deal beats that one by about $20. While we haven't had a chance to review these earbuds for ourselves, our friends over at PCMag (which is owned by Mashable's publisher, Ziff Davis) tested them out and were really wowed by them. The reviewer noted that they "offer superb sound quality, excellent noise cancellation, and a dizzying array of high-end features," and ultimately gave them the PCMag Editor's Choice badge of honor.

Released last month, the Blink Mini 2 just got its first real discount (and it's a good one!). As of April 15, you can snag it on sale for just $29.99 instead of $39.99 — that's a savings of 25%. The new Blink Mini 2 offers an enhanced image quality with better performance in low light settings, a wider field of view, and a built-in LED spotlight for night view in color. Plus, its weather-resistant design can now be used both indoors and outdoors with the purchase of the new Blink weather resistant power adapter (sold separately or bundled for an extra $10).

If you're looking for the least expensive way to add Alexa to your home, look no further than the Echo Pop. Named after the fun pop of color it adds to your home, the Echo Pop is essentially like a pared down Echo Dot. "For people who like to keep music playing, and who also use Alexa as a home assistant, the Echo Pop is a perfect addition to any room in the house," Mashable's reviewer wrote. It's currently sitting at $22.99 at Amazon — that's a savings of 43%. While not its lowest price ever — that honor would go to the $17.99 Black Friday season deal from 2023 — it's still a pretty sweet discount.

Opens in a new window Credit: Blink Blink Outdoor 4 (4th Gen) $59.99 at Amazon
$99.99 Save $40.00 Get Deal

Another Amazon-owned security camera is down to its lowest price on record. The Blink Outdoor 4 (4th gen) is on sale for just $59.99 instead of the usual $99.99 as of April 15. That's 40% in savings on one of our top overall picks for a security camera. Given that the camera is made by Amazon, the Blink Outdoor 4 works seamlessly with other Alexa-enabled devices. Plus, it comes with customizable motion zones without the need for a subscription (although, a Blink subscription will unlock even more features), and has a battery life that can't be beat. Just pop in some AAs and you won't have to worry about changing them for two whole years.

You can now watch TCM classic movies on Fandango's streaming service

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 18:00

In great news for classic film fans, movie ticketing company Fandango has teamed up with the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) network to add 30 iconic Hollywood titles from its revered catalogue to the Fandango At Home streaming service.

Previously known as Vudu, Fandango is owned by NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Discovery. TCM will have its own dedicated hub on Fandango's platform, much like it's had on its sister company Max (though that's become a little harder to find post-Warner Bros Discovery merge).

From April to May, there'll be one classic TCM film per week available to watch for free on Fandango at Home, including James Dean's iconic 1955 drama Rebel Without a Cause, Robert Aldrich's 1967 war epic The Dirty Dozen, and the 1967 Paul Newman-George Kennedy prison drama Cool Hand Luke.

SEE ALSO: 15 greatest classic films on Max

All these films have been screened at the annual TCM Classic Film Festival in LA over the last 15 years and hail from the TCM library — which includes a trove of films from Warner Bros, MGM, and RKO, some from as early as the 1920s, many of which have been lovingly preserved and restored. As part of this new partnership, Fandago at Home is the presenting sponsor for this year's festival, which runs April 18 to 21.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Turner Classic Movies to provide fans access to beloved classic films, some for Free for the first time," said Cameron Douglas, SVP of OTT/Streaming for Fandango, in a press statement.

"Through this new relationship, we aim to celebrate the rich cinematic history represented by TCM's extensive film library and offer our dedicated users special deals and offers."

Amid all this good streaming news, it's been a pretty tumultuous time at TCM, with high profile layoffs last year, reportedly part of Warner Bros. Discovery's cost-cutting moves, leading to backlash from Hollywood heavyweights and film enthusiasts alike.

TCM does let you stream movies from its catalogue from its own website and mobile app, but you need to punch in your account information from your cable or satellite provider.

Google Pixel 9 is rumored to steal this iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 feature

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 17:44

The upcoming Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are poised to challenge the iPhone 15 by integrating satellite connectivity, a feature that was introduced to iOS devices in 2022.

According to a "Google insider" per Android Authority, this advancement comes via the new Samsung Modem 5400, which will enable texting in areas without traditional network coverage and facilitate quick emergency communications through a "Satellite Gateway" app. The app reportedly simplifies emergency responses by posing straightforward questions to users.

SEE ALSO: Google Pixel 9 leak reveals 3 big design tweaks. It looks more iPhone-like now.

This feature is expected to debut on the Pixel 9 line, and although initially available for T-Mobile users, there's potential for broader network support in the future. The move could be a significant step forward for Google, as Pixel phones have historically faced network-related challenges. Improved connectivity could enhance the reliability and appeal of Google's flagship smartphones.

Moreover, the Samsung Modem 5400 isn't limited to the Pixel 9 series. It's anticipated to be a standard feature in future devices equipped with the Tensor G4 chipset, including the next-generation Pixel Fold and a new 5G tablet, tentatively named "Clementine." This could indicate a more unified approach to hardware capabilities across Google’s device ecosystem.

The timing of these launches remains in flux, with the Pixel 9 expected in October. The integration of this technology in the Pixel Fold 2 and the next iteration of the Pixel tablet suggests a strategic rollout of features set to enhance Google's competitive edge in the smartphone market.

In late February, Samsung announced that the AI feature set would be rolled out to the Galaxy S23 series, the Tab S9, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5.

However, it looks like Samsung isn't stopping there. In a new press release on Monday, Samsung revealed that Galaxy AI will now expand to eight more devices.

SEE ALSO: Galaxy AI won't be free for long. Here's when you'll start paying for it. Galaxy AI is coming to 8 new devices

As part of the new One UI 6.1 update, Galaxy AI is coming to the following eight devices:

  • Samsung Galaxy S22

  • Samsung Galaxy S22+

  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

Galaxy AI will roll out to the aforementioned devices some time in early May.

Tesla to cut more than 10% of workforce, report claims

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 14:03

Tesla is laying off more than 10 percent of its workforce globally.

This is according to a company-wide email sent to Tesla employees by CEO Elon Musk. The email was first reported on by Electrek.

In the email, Musk lays the blame on the company's rapid growth, which caused "duplication of roles and job functions in certain areas."

"As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity. As part of this effort, we have done a thorough review of the organization and made the difficult decision to reduce our headcount by more than 10 percent globally," the email states.

"There is nothing I hate more, but it must be done. This will enable us to be lean, innovative and hungry for the next growth phase cycle," wrote Musk.

SEE ALSO: Tesla slashes Full Self-Driving subscription price in half

What Musk doesn't mention is that the layoffs come after a challenging quarter for Tesla, in which the carmaker's deliveries and revenue fell well off predicted figures.

The news comes after rumors that Tesla is preparing to lay off as much as 20 percent of its workforce. Musk's phrasing (more than 10 percent) indicates that fewer people will be fired than the reported figure, though it doesn't reveal how much, exactly.

Tesla has reportedly abandoned plans to launch a cheaper electric car; instead, the company is preparing to unveil a Tesla Robotaxi in August.

John Oliver uses a brutal parody ad to take aim at Medicaid

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 12:36

Medicaid, the public health program for low income families, has a number of issues, ranging from people abruptly losing their coverage to organisations costing states millions through fraudulent billing.

As John Oliver points out in the Last Week Tonight video above, though, so much of the conversation seems to focus on scare-mongering about the people actually using the program.

"So much of the talk around Medicaid seems to centre on the fear that someone, somewhere, might be gaming the system," says Oliver. "Again and again, the priority seems to be making sure no individual gets a penny more healthcare than they deserve, even as states are weirdly blithe about much bigger amounts of money flowing out the door to large organizations."

To really drill the point home, Oliver enlists comedian Amber Ruffin to help create a nightmarish parody ad featuring talking fruit and vegetables.

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) package has just become a lot cheaper — if you're interested in a monthly subscription.

Late last week, the company reduced the price of FSD to $99 per month, down from $199 per month which was the price when Tesla launched the option in July 2021.

SEE ALSO: Elon Musk promises Tesla robotaxis in August

FSD is an optional set of features that gives Tesla cars (which have the necessary hardware) numerous autonomous driving options, including partially autonomous navigating to destination, as well as stopping at stop signs and traffic lights. Released as limited beta in Oct. 2020 and expanded to all interested Tesla owners in Nov. 2022, FSD is only available in the United States and Canada.

Who will pay the full, $12,000 price for FSD now? Credit: Tesla

Despite the name, FSD does not actually turn your Tesla into a fully autonomous vehicle, regardless of Tesla CEO Elon Musk's repeated promises that this is happening soon and will tremendously increase the value of the car as it will be possible to put it to work as a robotaxi.

Tweet may have been deleted

The pricing reduction is significant, as it now undercuts the full price of the FSD package, which is currently $12,000 (unless you plan to own the car for longer than 10 years). It also comes after Tesla's decision to take every new customer on a test ride designed to show the capabilities of FSD. Musk also recently promised that a "Tesla Robotaxi" will be unveiled in August, though the announcement was short on details.

Musk claimed on several occasions that the value (and price) of FSD will just keep going up over time. For a while, the price part was true, as FSD initially cost just $5,000, before ballooning to $15,000 in Sept. 2022. The fact that the price was lowered to $12,000 in Sept. 2023, together with this most recent reduction, indicates that Tesla is ready to onboard more customers to FSD, but also puts a big dent into the idea that FSD will just keep getting more valuable.

'Bluey' special episode 'The Sign' had a ton of Easter eggs for fans

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 11:02

Bluey aired its longest episode ever on the weekend, the beloved Australian cartoon delivering 28-minutes full of Easter eggs and emotions. Released globally on Disney+, special episode "The Sign" features Bluey grappling with the upcoming sale of her home, a change she vehemently opposes.

Amidst this, her family is also preparing to host a backyard wedding between her Uncle Rad (voiced by Patrick Brammall) and godmother Frisky (voiced by Claudia O’Doherty). Of course, a wedding is a perfect opportunity for people to catch up with each other, reminisce about the past, and share some big life updates. It seems that love is in the air for at least one other couple as well.

SEE ALSO: How 'Bluey' taught me to let go and love dad rock

Warning: Spoilers will follow.

Like all Bluey episodes, "The Sign" can easily be watched in isolation. Still, this special episode does contain several callbacks and reveals to reward longtime fans of the series. The official Bluey YouTube account even released a video reminding viewers of several past events prior to it airing, hinting at things to watch out for during the episode.

Such Easter eggs include a glimpse of Greeny the green balloon floating by near the end of the episode, apparently still on the wind after Season 2 episode "Mum School." Grandparents Nana and Bobba demonstrate that they still remember how to floss after learning the dance from Bluey in Season 1 episode "Grannies," tearing it up to "Dance Mode" from the episode of the same name. The blue butterfly from "Slide" makes an appearance as well.

However, some of the most significant Easter eggs are the updates we get on the lives of the adults around Bluey and her family.

Aunty Brandy is finally pregnant Credit: Ludo Studio

In the particularly heartbreaking Season 3 episode "Onesies," viewers were introduced to mum Chilli's older sister Brandy (voiced by Rose Byrne). Aunty Brandy longed to be a mother but struggled with fertility issues, causing her to distance herself from Bluey's family because she found it painful to be around them.

Now it seems as though she will finally get her wish. Though there's no audible conversation about it during "The Sign," Aunty Brandy is visibly pregnant when she arrives at Frisky and Rad's wedding, embracing Chilli and allowing her sister to rub her enlarged belly.

The unexpected revelation caused excitement for many Bluey fans who recalled Brandy's difficulties falling pregnant.

Tweet may have been deleted Tweet may have been deleted Tweet may have been deleted Tweet may have been deleted Winton's dad has found love at last Credit: Ludo Studio

We also get some happy news about Winton's dad (voiced by Jake Bresanello). Cornelius has been looking for love after his relationship with his former partner ended — a split previously hinted at by a family car decal with the mother scratched off. This ongoing subplot has subtly appeared in the background of several episodes, showing Cornelius on dates with various potential partners.

Winton's dad finally appeared to hit it off with the Terrier triplets' mum in the recent episode "TV Shop." Now "The Sign" has revealed that their relationship is progressing very well.

While Bluey's classmates are talking about sad things, Winton says that his parents don't live together and his dad is "lonely all the time." This prompts one of the Terriers to respond that their "mum likes [his] dad." Then later in a blink and you'll miss it moment, Cornelius and the Terriers' unnamed mother are seen putting his house up for sale while their kids wait in the same car, indicating that they're likely moving in together.

Incidentally, this entices the couple who were buying Bluey's home to back out of the purchase, finding Cornelius' house more appealing due to it having a pool. Cornelius' successful romance thus indirectly contributes to the Heeler family's ultimate decision not to move — a decision that thrilled both Bluey and fans alike.

Bluey is currently available to stream on Disney+.

Lenovo LOQ 15 (2024) review: A cheap gaming laptop, but can it run AAA games?

Mashable - Mon, 04/15/2024 - 11:00

The Lenovo LOQ 15 is a gaming laptop that's just $749 – you heard that right – less than $800. Decent gaming rigs can set consumers back by $2,000 or more, so when I heard the price, I thought, "This can’t be good ... right?"

Well, it depends. If you're a bougie gamer, this gaming laptop won't meet your snobby demands. There's no way you're getting over 60 frames per second with all the sparkly bells and whistles (e.g., ray tracing, dynamic shadows, and other high levels of detail) with this bad boy.

However, if you're fine with dialing back the settings to get a playable triple-A gaming experience, this may be one of the best cheap gaming laptops you can get.

Lenovo LOQ 15 price and specs

The Lenovo LOQ 15, as I mentioned at the outset, is $749 – and can be found at Best Buy.

The review unit I have comes with the following specs:

  • Intel Core i5-12450HX

  • Intel ARC A530M graphics

  • 12GB of RAM

  • 512GB of SSD storage

  • 15.5-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel, 144Hz display

Two, er, interesting things stick out to me about these specs — and contribute to why the LOQ 15 has such a wallet-friendly price tag. First, it has a CPU that is a few generations old; this chip launched in 2022. In other words, this laptop is running on processor power that is obsolete by two years.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

Second, the Intel ARC A530M GPU is the Shein or Target of graphics cards, so to speak. It's nowhere near the caliber of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or 4090 GPU, the Yves Saint Laurent of graphics cards, where you’re getting top-tier performance in a mobile form factor.

But of course, if you don't have high-fashion money, you'll have to settle for less quality. And for less than $800, you're getting what you pay for with Intel ARC A530M graphics. However, it delivers just enough for those who aren't expecting Dom Pérignon on a beer budget.

Get Deal What I like about Lenovo LOQ 15

I appreciate that Lenovo is widening accessibility in gaming. You needn't shell out $4,000 (à la the Lenovo Legion 9i) to play your favorite triple-A PC games. All you need is eight smackaroos, and you're off to the races.

However, there's more to like about the Lenovo LOQ 15 beyond its price.

Great display

The LOQ 15's 15.6-inch display has slim bezels on both sides, but its massive chin gives Jay Leno a run for his money.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

As expected for a gaming laptop in this price range, this 300-nit screen is dim. However, the 1920 x 1080-pixel screen displayed ample richness and vividness while I watched the Godzilla x Kong trailer on YouTube. From the verdant, lush landscapes emanating bold shades of green to the tiny beads of sweat on Dan Stevens' forehead, the LOQ 15 has a delightful display for a sub-$800 gaming rig.

I played some Deathloop, too, and I was impressed with how the display reproduced colors and textures, from the burgundy knit sweater worn by the protagonist to the subtle build-up of orange-red rust on motion-activated metal doors.

Futuristic, minimalist design

The LOQ 15 looks like it was ripped right out of a spaceship's dashboard. From the chamfered edges to the luminous, reflective "LOQ" branding on the top-left side of the lid, this budget-friendly, metal-like laptop has a futuristic, minimalist vibe.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

On the back, you'll find vents arranged in an attractive honeycomb pattern that I don't see very often as a laptop reviewer.

Although it has a plastic chassis, at first glance, you'd never get the impression that the LOQ 15 is a sub-$800 laptop. Not only does it look sturdy, it feels sturdy, too. Putting pressure on the deck and lid yielded little to no give.

Decent amount of ports

Most of the LOQ 15's ports are on the back, under the hinge. You'll find a power connector that supports Lenovo's proprietary 170W charging cable, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and an Ethernet port.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

On the right side, you'll find another USB-A port, a headset jack, and a USB-C port (DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity and 140W power delivery).

Although I understand why Lenovo placed the majority of the ports on the back (it's supposed to keep cables out of the way while you're gaming), my power source sits to my left, so keeping the proprietary charging cable plugged in was slightly awkward.

OK performance for a sub-$800 gaming laptop

As you'll find out in subsequent sections, the LOQ 15 is no powerhouse, and it's not designed to be one. It's supposed to give you just enough oomph to play triple-A games at low-to-medium graphics settings.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

That being said, I found that the LOQ 15 was able to meet the minimum requirements — 60 frames per second — as long as I didn't tax the GPU with demanding graphics tasks.

Decent heat dissipation

I played Cyberpunk 2077 for 30 minutes. With a dual fan setup inside, the LOQ 15 remained relatively cool. It’s worth noting that the area above the function row keys got the warmest, but luckily, this region often remains untouched.

What's 'eh' about the Lenovo LOQ 15

There are some aspects of the LOQ 15 that are neither impressive nor disappointing — they yield nothing more than a shrug of "meh" from me.

180-degree hinge

I'm not quite sure what, exactly, is the use case of a gaming laptop with a display that can lean back by 180 degrees.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

But it's there if you need it.

Keyboard is alright

The LOQ 15 has that dedicated Copilot key Microsoft has been bragging about. In other words, you can fire up Copilot, Windows 11's AI assistant, with an easy press of a button.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

However, I'll admit that I'm indifferent about the keyboard. As aforementioned, the LOQ 15 looks sturdy and solid, but the deck – and the shield-shaped keycaps – definitely feels plasticky. But hey, what else do you expect from a sub-$800 gaming laptop?

After testing the full-sized keyboard (it has a numpad, which is nice to see), I appreciated the decent tactile feedback. But other than that, there's not much to write home about. You also won’t find any RGB lighting at all. But with the press of the Fn button and the spacebar, you can play around with two levels of keyboard backlighting.

So-so audio

The LOQ 15 has two down-firing speakers that can be found on the backside. I fired up SZA's "Saturn" song via Spotify, and I found that it sounded a bit thin. Also, I wouldn't say that the audio is "quiet," per se, but it's not loud either.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

Fortunately, there is a tuning app available called Nahimic. There are several presets available, including Music, Movie, Communication, Gaming and Smart. I preferred Smart, which dynamically tunes the LOQ 15's audio to deliver the best sound in any situation. SZA sounded fuller and more honeyed under the Smart audio profile compared to the other four presets.

Attracts fingerprints

As you can tell in these photos, the LOQ 15 attracts fingerprints.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

Keep a microfiber towel handy.

What I dislike about the LOQ 15

When it comes to budget-friendly laptops, you have to be careful not to prattle on about unimpressive features that are all-to-obvious trade-offs. For example, I'm not going to bother mentioning the poor battery life nor the meh webcam — not even high-end gaming laptops can deliver gems in these areas.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

And of course, the LOQ 15 isn’t designed to offer envelope-pushing performance, so I won’t even bother mentioning its mid-benchmark numbers.

However, there are two things I dislike about the LOQ 15 that are worth mentioning.

Touchpad actuation is cumbersome

I prefer my touchpad to deliver shallow, firm clicks. The LOQ 15 requires a little bit more pressure and force than I’d like before hitting its actuation point.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

Fortunately, you can simply pair your gaming laptop with a controller, so you needn’t deal with it while diving into your favorite titles. But if you plan on using the LOQ 15 for work, consider its lethargic activation.

So darn heavy

The LOQ 15 doesn’t pass my one-hand test. There’s no way I can hold the LOQ 15 in my hand for more than five seconds without it giving out on me.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

The LOQ 15 weighs 5.25 pounds, which is one chunky monkey. As such, this Lenovo laptop may be a pain to lug around during your morning commute.

How well does Lenovo LOQ 15 play AAA games?

We love to use Cyberpunk 2077 as our benchmark test for how well a gaming laptop can handle graphics-intensive triple-A games.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

Typically, we run the High preset at 1080p. And in the case of the Lenovo LOQ 15, which features an Intel ARC A530M GPU, it spewed out a score of 39 frames per second.

A bit disappointing, I know. However, I got more frame rates when I dialed back the settings to the Medium preset, which yielded a score of 62 frames per second, which meets our 60 frames-per-second minimum.

The Low preset delivered similar results: 63 frames per second.

So yes, it can play triple-A games, but not with the settings pushed to the max.

Lenovo LOQ 15 Geekbench score and performance

The LOQ 15 has an Intel Core i5 processor, which means that it’s really not designed to handle any heavy processing. And for most games, it’s the bare minimum CPU tier providing a playable experience.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

It’s also, as mentioned, two years old – and its less-than-impressive performance reflects that. On Geekbench 6, the LOQ 15's Intel Core i5-12450HX CPU delivered a multi-core score of 7,757. For reference, this isn't far off from the iPhone 15 Pro Max – yes, a phone – which has a score of 7,359 on the same test. Performance-wise, it's similar to the HP Spectre Fold, which also has a 12th-generation CPU (we are currently in the 14th generation of Intel CPUs).

If you plan on diving into intensive workflows on the LOQ 15, like working with large datasets, for example, expect some slowdowns.

Lenovo LOQ 15 battery life

We ran the PCMark 10 gaming battery life test on the LOQ 15. It only lasted 42 minutes on a single charge.

For the uninitiated, this is par for the course for gaming laptops. Make sure you keep the charging cable plugged into your outlet.

Lenovo LOQ 15 webcam

You’ll find the LOQ 15 720p webcam housed on the top bezel – and it's as underwhelming as you’d expect for a budget-friendly gaming laptop.

Credit: Kimberly Gedeon / Mashable

When I fired up the shooter, the picture was expectedly blurry and noisy. However, in a "blessing in disguise" moment, it also fails to pick up on any subtle flaws on my face, like dark circles and barely there acne scars.

Is Lenovo LOQ 15 worth it?

The better question here is, "Who is the Lenovo LOQ 15 for?" Because it's quite heavy, it's best for gamers who work from home and plan to leave their laptop stationed at their desk (after all, it's not very power efficient).

If you want to commute with it, you may find it to be too cumbersome.

And, of course, considering that this is a budget gaming laptop, it's not for bougie gamers who must play their favorite triple-A titles on the best settings possible. If you're perfectly fine with sacrificing the nitty-gritty graphical details for smoother gameplay, the LOQ 15 is for you.

If you’re OK with a gaming laptop that delivers the bare minimum for your gaming needs, allowing you to save more money for your pockets, the LOQ 15 is one of the best budget gaming laptops of 2024.

In the Apple vs. Android feud, the latter tends to argue that more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better. When we take a look at the tablet selection each has to offer, we have to agree. While Apple’s iPads are certainly pleasing to the eye, this TCL Tab 10 Android tablet provides many of the same features for only $119.99 (reg. $249).

More features than an iPad? Decide for yourself…

The TCL Tab 10 runs on a MediaTek Kompanio 800T chip and 4GB of RAM for smooth performance and multitasking, whether you’re streaming movies, taking notes for class, or video chatting with friends. It’s also powered by an Android 12 operating system, with some features you just won’t find on Apple’s iOS:

End the Apple vs. Android debate once and for all with this TCL Tab 10 Android tablet at $119.99 (reg. $249).

TL;DR: Through April 16, the Portable 36W Switch Dock Charger Brick, a compact alternative to the original Nintendo Switch Dock, is on sale for $35.99 for a limited time.

The Nintendo Switch may be portable, but the dock it came with doesn't quite match. If you want to game on the go, you could do it on the Switch's own screen, but connecting to a monitor requires a docking station, which means dragging around the bulky bit of plastic the Switch came with. Or you can pick up a much smaller alternative Switch dock.

The Portable 36W Switch Dock Charger Brick puts a few of the main functions of the Nintendo Switch dock into a compact brick you could tuck in a pocket or purse. Normally, this alternative Nintendo Switch dock would cost $39, but you can get it for $35.99.

Connect, charge, play

Leave the old dock at home. The Portable Switch Brick is a convenient alternative that lets you connect your Switch to the big screen using 4K@60Hz HDMI. Just plug your console into the dock and connect it to the monitor or TV of your choice. You can also use this little brick to charge your console, and it's equipped with a smart protection GaN chip to help prevent overcurrent, overheating, and overvoltage.

This brick may not have as many ports as the original Nintendo Switch docking station, but it's also not limited to just your Switch. This brick is also compatible with mobile devices, so you may be able to connect or charge your phone or tablet.
