I am a big fan of a clean desktop and of tools that simplify my life, like RocketDock [5]. I have recently discovered RainMeter [6], and I can only say: Wow!!!
Rainmeter displays customizable skins, like memory and battery power, RSS feeds and weather forecasts, right on your desktop.
So after downloading it and checking out a few skinds, here is my ASUS Zenbook desktop before RainMeter [6]:
